My Favourites for Feb

Ugh. My camera is currently dead, so no photos for the moment, so here's some things that I currently love!
・・・・・・・・・

I've been wanting to write about this store for a while, even though it's quite a well known online store.

This is my favourite mori store! ( ゚ ヮ゚)

[Or should I say 'stores'? I've noticed that there are two Taobao shops with identical names, and who sometimes have the same model. Here(dearli) and here(litongxue). Is one ripping off the other, or are they 'sister' stores? Regardless, both have nice photos hah ●´ω`●]

I enjoy brands such as Crisp and SM2, but when it comes to inspiration, nothing compares to the Chinese Taobao store 'Dear Chestnut' or 'Dear栗'. Regardless of season, this store manages to provide not only lots of lovely clothes, but lovelier photoshoots to show off their items. (The quality of items is irrelevant to me to be honest- I don't plan on buying any haha). They manage to use patterns, colours, and styling so well- I just want to jump into the photos.
I always look forward to their new season!

・・・・・・・・・
xMOTHERx is an etsy store that sells lovely handmade aprons, smocks, and collars among many other things. Their photos have a lovely crisp look to them, reminiscent of many Spoon photoshoots I have seen! I can almost smell the freshly baked bread that I imagine would be baked wearing these lovely items! ´ ▽ `

・・・・・・・・・
I found scans of (part of) Crisp's 2011 winter catalogue! Click for bigger resolution! Although slightly outdated now, I love the use of colour.

Listening to 60s pop music (especially Japanese 60s pop), and listening to 45s on the record player. We don't have many records so I've been listening to Dance of The Sugarplum Fairy, Minor Bossa Nova, and this song on repeat:

Bobby Vee - Take Good Care of My Baby

What has caught your eye (or ears!) lately?

Bows, buns, buys oh my!

This last weekend I went camping with my friends at one of their farm properties. It was such a beautiful setting! There was a giant grassy hill that I spent many hours rolling down! It was a fantastic weekend- sadly most of the photos only group shots of me and my friends, and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate me smacking them up here on my blog haha.

Here's a nice shot of the aforementioned hill! By the end of the weekend, that grass was a lot flatter!

・・・・・・・・・
For the weekend, I wore just camping-suitable attire- so no photos haha! But today I wore this for a lazy day about the house.
Later this week I'll try to take up Fern & Fawn's monthly challenge of incorporating roses into my outfit!

Shirt; EzyBuy・ Overdress; Supre ・ Pants; Thrifted・ Shoes; Thrifted・Socks; Glassons・ Bow; Bodyline・ Necklace; Wonder Rocket

I've also found a great solution to making easy buns (hair buns that is)! Surprisingly, it is by using a sock! Who would've thought! If you have trouble with topknots, try this as an alternative, and see if it works! I just discovered it today, but I can already tell it's a (strangely) useful thing to know. Being Lovely blog tells you how to do it here (or click the image below).

・・・・・・・・・
I haven't done much shopping recently. Most of my new clothing has been through sewing, which I will talk about a bit later! However, I've been keeping my eye out for some good deals about the place!

Left to Right:

  • CottonOn lace trim cardigan for $10- thin, but good for Spring and late summer!
  • Farm print leggings for $8- these are very warm, so I'm keeping them for the winter
  • Frilly mini skirt for $5- I'm not one to wear miniskirts, but the fabric really got to me haha
  • Trelise Cooper stain glass window necklace for $20- I'm a big fan of Trelise Cooper's clothing, and this would make a good accessory for a dolly kei inspired outfit I think! The chain is slightly reminiscent of a rosary.

Here's one of the sewing projects I worked on last week (again from my darling Pochee magazine! :P )
It's a pair of shorts and a wrap around skirt, that can be made into two different kinds of salopettes simply by pinning a front bib onto them- so in theory, I have 4 different wardrobe pieces! I only had just enough fabric to make them both, so I have to be very economical!

Pro tip- make sure you put pattern pieces in a safe place where you won't mistake them for scrap fabric... (╥_╥)

・・・・・・・・・
How has everyone been lately? (✿◠‿◠) The summer here so far has been terrible! Barely any sunny days to speak of!

I'll update with an inspiration post and rose-theme outfit later this week!
Thanks for reading!☆

With one day blurring into the next...

Either that or I'm complete dork.
Sorry for the disappearing act I've pulled on all of you lovely readers! I'm in the midst of my final high school term and so the weeks have been just zipping by (as have school project deadlines °Д°)

As well as a super quick update, this is a more formal method of announcing a further hiatus of my blog. Yes you can shake your fist at me now!

Exams are coming up real fast, but after that I'm free to blog for the next 4 months! °ω°
Plus I have some real exciting news about life events (well... exciting for me at least, but I hope you'll get some smiles out of it)

・・・・・・・・・
One thing that I have done of recent was make a floral headband. I found bunches of fake flowers (such as the ones on the left below), a headband, and with a sprinkling (more like a dousing) of hot glue I produced a Mucha-esque wreath.
In total, the entire thing only cost $3 and about half an hour of my time.
It's really simple, so everyone should try it!

Also, my bestest best friend purchased this absolutely adorable Little Prince diary for me! ≧◡≦ It's so cute and even has itty bitty stamps! Thank you so much Cat~ <3<3

・・・・・・・・・
A rakuten store I've had my eyes on of recent is soulberry.

Even if I can't purchase the clothing, the images alone are enough to inspire a range of outfits. Especially with the summer months coming up (I always feel like the odd one out being in the southern hemisphere!), I've been really interested in how to incorporate mori style in a way which is suitable for heat and humidity. Thankfully a lot of the clothing style focuses on natural fibres such as linen, so that has been an area of interest!
There's a lot of other blogs that have suggestions for summer mori style, but do any of you have your own tips or tricks? ◠‿◠

Anyway, here's a few of my favourite images from soulberry!

This is hardly a post that makes up for all the time away, but I'll be blogging like a mad man in the months to come!

Take it Easy

Amazing eyes! ゜o゜

Recently I went on a little excursion to the beach with my family and a friend. I turned out to be quite a horrible weekend weather wise, but on the way back we stopped off at a cheese factory that had a little field of goats and alpacas. Although they were cute, the alpacas were less than friendly `ー´  But we were able to feed some goats and chooks ・ω・

I've been sleeping in past my alarm clock recently so I've had no time to take outfit shots! I promise I'll take some more soon! I also died my hair a darker shade. I felt like my yellow hair was looking a bit tacky and straw-like. I must remember to book a hair appointment!

Left: Hat; Dotti ・ Overshirt; Glassons ・ Dress; EzyBuy ・ Pants; Thrifted ・ Shoes; Thrifted
Right: Scarf; A gift ・ Cardigan; Thrifted ・ Crocheted Cardigan; Thrifted ・ Dress; EzyBuy ・ Socks; CottonOn ・ Shoes; Number One Shoes

I know, I know- I wear that big brown cardigan way too often... haha
Here's a few shots from around my town!

This store sells lots of cute antiques and new gifts.
An adorable clock I found in a chain store! I already have a perfectly good clock- but it was still so tempting haha!
This is of a wedding venue- but it's very dilapidated and I've never seen it used.

I found a super cute Rakuten store that I wanted to share with you all!

OrganFan sells lots and lots (and lots!) of cute (and quite affordable) jewelry and accessories! A lot of the brands that they sell are featured in magazines such as FUDGE, so of course I was instantly hooked on their goods! I could spend hours just browsing through their items haha.
Click on the cup to waste away the day!

See you soon❁

Some things

Here's a few things that I'm really liking these past few moments...

Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth I, FUDGE magazine May 2011,
Fashion Served, Mori Girl Papier #1

Ginger hair & barely-there eyebrows. I am really liking light eyebrows at the moment- they give a really delicate appearance I think.

Recently I came across an Argentinian designer's website, Nadine Zlotogora, and instantly fell in love with the clothes. They have a simple, gypsy-like feeling. Her website hasn't been updated since 2009 though and I am struggling to find any more recent work by her. Nevertheless, I have been enjoying looking at her past works.

My new sailor socks, Chestnuts (roasted of course!),
The very cute Paper Mache children's magazine, puffy stickers I got for $1

And just a few more little things!
・・・・・・・・・

In my last post, I posted a video with Chelsea Maika, and someone asked who the song was by. It's by 'Naomi & Goro'. Here's another one of their songs, Yoakeno Uta.

I'm in the middle of exams right now, so I really should be studying!
See you soon❁

Ahhh! ・°・(ノД`)・°・
Sorry for not posting or commenting on other blogs for a while! (Mixture of homework, job and laziness º~º) Our school managed to raise over $3500 for Christchurch! (which is amazing as we barely raise $600 usually...) Tomorrow we are spending a day cleaning the school to get ready for a big event!

Introducing one of my cats!

I hope everyone has been having a good week!

Here's the usual outfit post! I apologise for the hideous yellow tinge to all the photos- I take the photos in the morning (and my room is quite dark) with the main light on. It has a rather unfortunate glow...

I am very thankful for autumn's abrupt arrival! I can comfortably wear cardigans and tights for the majority of the day 。♥‿♥。

I have been trying out many different hair styles recently...
...Including ram-like curls on the side of my head!

In my last post I talked about visiting Atrium on Elliot. Today I want to show you my 'gets' from Auckland, and other places over the past few weeks °ω°

Lepsim Lowrys Farm lace vest. I have been search for so so so long for a lace vest. The ones sold various chain stores where I live are over priced and quite ugly. I am over the moon to have found this vest as it was very cheap and very pretty. It was also a plus to be from one of my favourite mori brands!
On the right is a lace collar and trim tunic. This wrinkles so easily! I only put it down for 5 minutes after ironing, and it ended up looking like that! This was in a bargin bin and is quite cute ◠‿◠

The lacey cardigan-thing was at a retail sale and at a 3rd of its retail price!
On the right is an Olive Des Olive button down shirt that I found at a second-hand designer store!
On the left is a peterpan collared dress that I found at Recycle Boutique! It is handmade and trimmed with tiny crocheted lace ♥‿♥
This cardigan has quickly become my closet staple! It only cost me $1 at a garage sale!
I also found SM2 jeans at the garage sale too! They were only $1 too!!  ゚Д゚

On Monday after school, my friend and I went to the local auction house to rummage through boxes of gorgeous shoes. A shoe shop had recently closed and the auction house was selling sets of 6 brand new pairs of shoes for $30 ($5 dollars a pair!). Through hysterical giggling fits and squishing feet into itty bitty heels, we managed to pick 6 pairs. The majority of them are heels, but the cream of the crop were these beautiful leather boots! ♥‿♥

I've always got my eye out for a deal! (°w°;≡°w°)

In the weekend I brought one of my dollhouses up from the basement. I'm wanting to do it up in a forest-y theme! Anyone have any ideas for the interior or exterior? ●´ω`●

Lastly, I wanted to introduce you to the mori-girl musical duo 'PoPoyans'. Cheru and Nonchan make very soft and simple music- very reflective of the mori girl style. The duo started making music in 2007, and released their first album, 祝日 (Holiday), in 2008. I'm not one to describe music, so I'll let it speak for itself!

PoPoyans in Mori Girl Lesson 3 & Nonchan's blog

Not only is their music and style lovely; their website and blogs (Cheru & Nonchan) are an endless source of inspiration!

*:・゚’✿,。・:*:❀・゚’❁,*:❀・゚’❁,✿,。・:*❀・゚’❁

I hope you have enjoyed PoPoyans, and put up with my mindless consumerism! I hope this post wasn't too dull...  。◕x◕。 What do you think of PoPoyans' music and style?

Time to catch up on commenting on blogs! haha
Bye bye! ・゚,,。・:*❀・゚
